Ram Heavy Duty 2020 MotorTrend Truck of the Year!
What Does It Take To Be Back-to-Back Truck of the Year?
The Ram heavy duty 2500/3500
Now, when discussing who has the best truck in the game, it really gets repetitive & confusing. Everyone keeps saying they’re the best. We have seen it time and time again, where a video ad pops up, and there’s a thick concrete wall, and some random truck just smashed through it as if it were made from papier-mâché. If you are imagining that in your head, then you know exactly what we’re talking about.

Advanced Design
When it comes to large heavy-duty pickup trucks, it’s tough to make them look elegant. However, the engineering team has made it possible by having the power of choices made available to customers. For starters, the regular, crew and “mega” cabs sit on a new high-strength steel platform. A customer can choose either a 6’4” or 8’ bed with single or dual rear wheels. Now, if that doesn’t convince the critic in you, then maybe you’ll be impressed by a grille that is 30% larger than the one before. The grill feeds the largest radiator and inter-cooler to ever be fitted in a heavy-duty Ram.
Like the 1500 light-duty Ram, Ram buyers are spoiled with the beauty of choices starting with the six different trim levels in the Ram. Each trim level has a distinctive grille, wheel options, and detailed trim to match the personality of the truck with that of the customer buying it. Looking for a functional and work ready truck? Get yourself a Tradesman model. Looking for one capable and worthy of an adventure? Then you’ll need a 2500 Power Wagon. Are you someone who wants straight up luxury in their trucks? Then get yourself the 3500 Limited.
The inside of these trucks are no different regarding their advanced design. Ram wanted to make sure their trucks were capable of being a mobile office for its owners, and rightfully so. All models come with 2 to 4 color scheme options, acoustic glass, and active noise cancelling. These trucks have three options for infotainment systems. One can choose a 5-inch screen, 8.4-inch, or a huge 12-inch Uconnect system. The last two come equipped with apps and tools that help with towing and hauling.

Engineering Excellence
When thinking about the needs of a heavy-duty truck buyer, Ram had to think about what three-quarter and one-ton trucks had to be capable of. These trucks tend to tow more, drive off-road more, and get their beds filled more often than lighter-duty trucks. It’s in their nature, and Ram knew this when designing these trucks.
The engineering starts with the engine, it’s in the word! The Ram HD has a carryover 6.4-liter Hemi V-8 which is standard on both the 2500 and 3500, and it puts out 410 hp and 429 lb.-ft of torque. These trucks are equipped with cylinder deactivation technology and frame shakers, which turn this gas guzzler from a V-8 into a fuel-efficient V-4. However, if a Hemi is not enough, then you could always go the diesel route, and hop into a Cummins turbo-diesel. You have the option of a 6.7 liter with 850 lb.-ft torque, or the higher-output version with 1,000 lb.-ft of torque. That is the first truck in its class to break through the four-digit torque celling.
This truck surely balances the needs of its diverse customers better than any of its competitors. Ram is the 2020 MotorTrend Truck of the Year, and it was for 2019 as well. Come in and test drive one for yourself at Bill Luke today!
